3D print scale calculator: resize a model by percentage
Your figure measures 80 mm in the slicer and you want it at 120 mm? Enter the current and target size to get the uniform scale percentage to apply.
No sign-up. Your values stay in your browser: they are never sent or stored.
Your inputs
Default values are editable examples. Estimates only: check against your printer or slicer.
Worked example
Example: a figure that is 80 mm tall and should be 120 mm needs a scale of 150%. Its volume, and so the material, grows by about 3.4 times (1.5³).
How it is calculated
Scale (%) = target size ÷ current size × 100. Measure the same dimension on both sides (overall height, for example) in the same unit.
Limits and checks
Uniform scaling also enlarges or shrinks fine details, wall thickness and fit clearances, so check them in your slicer afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
- What scale for a 28 mm or 32 mm miniature?
- These conventions describe the height of a human figure, but the reference point (eyes or top of the head) varies between ranges. Measure the same reference on your model, then enter the height you want as the target size.
- Why does material use grow so fast?
- Volume changes with the cube of the scale: at 200% the part holds about 8 times more material if walls and infill follow; at 50%, about 8 times less.
- Why does my STL open tiny or huge?
- STL files store no unit. A model exported in centimeters or inches often opens 10 or 25.4 times too small in a slicer set to millimeters: a scale of 1,000% or 2,540% fixes the unit. The STL checker shows dimensions in the unit you pick.
- Can I scale along one axis only?
- This calculation gives a uniform scale that keeps proportions. Scaling one axis distorts the model, so keep it for technical parts where only one dimension must change.
- Are my values saved?
- No. The calculation runs in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent or stored. As on the rest of the site, page visits and button clicks are measured, without the calculator values.
