Convert STL to GLB: show a print file on the web

STL is made for printers, not for web pages. To show your part in a viewer, a product page or an AR scene, convert it to GLB. The tool reads the STL in your browser, recomputes normals and writes a GLB with a neutral material. Nothing is uploaded.

Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.

What the resulting GLB contains

A single mesh, recomputed smooth normals and a neutral grey material: exactly what a web viewer, a product model or an import into Blender, Unity or Three.js needs. Since the STL has neither colors nor UVs, the GLB has none either. You can add a material in your 3D tool afterwards.

File size and performance

A binary STL weighs 50 bytes per triangle; the GLB produced here is in the same range, uncompressed. For a web page, aim for fewer than 500,000 triangles: above that, rendering slows down on phones. The Nyzora GLB viewer shows the triangle count so you can judge before publishing.

Scale: millimeters to meters

Slicers read STL as millimeters; glTF is in meters. The tool copies the coordinates without converting them: a 50 mm part gives a 50-unit GLB, so 50 m in a scene that follows the standard. If that matters for your use, apply a factor of 0.001 in your 3D software.

How it works

  1. Drop the STL

Binary or ASCII, up to 80 MB on a computer, 40 MB on a phone.

  2. GLB is already selected

The tool announces that the GLB will have no colors, since the STL has none.

  3. Download and check

Open the GLB in the viewer to check the shape before publishing it.

Frequently asked questions

Will the GLB have colors or textures?
No: the source STL has none. The GLB gets a uniform grey material that you can replace in Blender or your engine.
Can I convert to text glTF (.gltf)?
Not here: the tool writes a binary GLB, which bundles everything into a single file, the easiest to publish.
Does the conversion compress the mesh?
No. No Draco or Meshopt compression is applied, so the file stays readable everywhere. You can compress afterwards with gltf-transform or Blender.
Does my file stay private?
Yes. Reading and writing happen in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored.
