Convert GLB to STL: from a web model to a print file
A GLB from a 3D generator, a game or an asset store does not print as is. The tool extracts every mesh in the GLB, including Draco- or Meshopt-compressed ones, merges them into a single binary STL and warns you that colors and textures will not survive. Everything stays on your device.
Nothing is uploaded: everything runs in your browser.
Why a GLB does not print directly
GLB is the format of real-time 3D: it carries PBR materials, textures, sometimes animations and a hierarchy of objects. A slicer reads none of that; it wants a closed surface made of triangles. The conversion flattens the hierarchy by applying each node's transform, then writes the geometry as STL. Animations, materials and textures are dropped, which is expected for printing.
glTF meters versus slicer millimeters
The glTF specification mandates meters. A 1.8 m character is 1.8 units in the GLB, and a slicer will read it as 1.8 mm. After converting, open the STL in the checker with "meters" selected to see its real size, then apply a factor of 1000, or the scale you want, in the slicer. The tool does not change the numbers: it does not decide for you.
AI-generated models: check before printing
GLB files produced by an AI can contain inner shells, flipped faces or very thin parts. The checker reports open edges, non-manifold edges and inverted normals, without guaranteeing a print: wall thickness and supports are set in your slicer.
How it works
Drop the GLB
Draco- and Meshopt-compressed GLB files are read. Up to 80 MB on a computer, 40 MB on a phone.
Read the announced losses
Colors, textures and materials do not carry over to STL. The tool says so before converting.
Download, then check
The STL is written on your device. Check size and mesh before slicing.
Frequently asked questions
- Will my GLB's colors be kept?
- No. An STL holds triangles only. For a color print you need a format such as 3MF or OBJ with textures, which this tool does not produce.
- My GLB has several objects. What happens to them?
- They are merged into one mesh, keeping their positions. To print parts separately, split them in your modeling software before converting.
- Why is the STL a thousand times too small?
- Because glTF is in meters and slicers read millimeters. Multiply the scale by 1000 in the slicer after checking the dimensions in the STL checker.
- Does a GLB generated by Nyzora print?
- Nyzora creations already come with a dedicated STL, often more detailed than the GLB preview. This tool is mostly for GLB files from elsewhere.
